Combining Creative Outlets

I have noticed that many papercrafters also quilt, sew and do other crafts involving putting many pieces together to create something new. I love felt craft and just can't making ornaments. Soon I am going to have to cut a whole in my ceiling so I can buy a big enough tree!

Last November I made an Advent Calendar for my daughter that combined applique and embroidery and papercrafting. I loved it so much I wanted to keep it! The Gingerbread House was a Bucilla Kit and I used a Tim Holtz Configuration Book to store the 24 ornaments that hang on the house to countdown to Christmas.

This is the main house. It is quite large - 18" x 23". The ornaments hang from the red sequins.

So many sequins to sew...!!!

The ornaments included gingerbread people, candies and wreaths. Here they are nestled in the decorated configurations book:

Here is the front of the Configurations Book:

I used an assortment of Tim Holtz products and techniques to decorate the book.

Have you ever combined your favorite creative outlets in a single project?

See you again soon,

Creating with Critters

Happy New Year everyone!

So I hate New Year's resolutions, but I am aiming to actually get this blog going again and share more of my creations, participate in more challenges and just have fun.

Today I am participating in last Wednesday's Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn challenge featuring critters. My inspiration is the startled expression on my Freddie's face when he saw snow surrounding him for the first time this year. Since he lived in the south before we rescued him last year, he doesn't have a whole lot of experience with snow to begin with.

This is Freddie on our deck last week after the snow.

So what other Lawn Fawn set could I use than Critters in the Snow?

I just love these cute little critters. I used the smooshing technique on watercolor paper and softened it with vellum that had spots resembling snowfall.

Papers: Xpress It white, Stampin' Up heavy whisper white, Tim Holtz watercolor paper, vellum from my stash
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Critters in the Snow (with matching die), Simon Says Stamp Winter Words
Inks: Tim Holtz Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass; Memento Tuxedo Black, Summer Sky; Versafine Onyx Black
Other: Copic Markers, Stampin' Up! washi tape
