Floral Thanks

Monday, Monday.... I didn't post this weekend because I was reorganizing my craft room. Dave and I picked up a great old pine cabinet and hutch and it is now sitting in my space. It took most of the weekend to scrub it out and get it ready to store my goodies, so there was no crafting going on this weekend. I will share a picture later this week. I think it is going to look great.

I do have a card for you today using Stampin' Up! Forever Florals and Lots of Thanks stamp sets. I also used some pieces from the February Paper Pumpkin kit to make the medallion for the Thanks sentiment.

I started by stamping the flower onto Whisper White card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then coloring the image with Old Olive and Calypso Coral Blendabilities. When done, I masked the flower and sponged the background with Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight. The patterned paper is from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper. I used the sketch challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers (Sketch #498) for the layout.

If you love the colorful designer paper, it is still on sale for a few more days at buy 3 packs and get one free! Don't miss out on this deal.

Back to the craft room to finish organizing. More again soon.

Paper Pumpkin - My Way

Have  you signed up for Paper Pumpkin yet? These monthly kits are awesome! Even better, sign up for a monthly subscription by September 10 and you can get your first two months at HALF OFF! You can get the details HERE in my store.

This great gift bag is from the February 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit called "In the Bag." In addition to the nice kraft bags, the kit includes the stamps to color the star burst medallions in dots and stripes, as well as a Pistachio Pudding inkspot. The baker's twine, all die cut shapes, ribbon and mini-clothespins are also included. Tons of materials and directions to boot.

Of course, I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I added some stamping from my collection to dress up the bag even more. That's what is so great about these kits! You can make a great project you can be proud of just following the included directions, or make it your own by changing it up a bit.

I stamped Bordering Blooms along the bottom edge of the bag with Pistachio Pudding and Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Ink Pads. The Stamped sentiment is from Bravo. I selected to hang the word "Hooray" from the baker's twine to complete the congratulatory message.

Best of all, the whole project took less than 20 minutes! Definitely a winner.

Blendies Light Up My Life

Happy Thursday! It is supposed to be a beautiful day here in the Upper Midwest and I am looking forward to that indeed.

For today's project, I broke out the Blendabilities for some more practice. I selected the Chinese lanterns from the Today & Everyday Stamp Set. They looked like such fun to color - and they were. I am really getting used to the nuances of the Blendabilities and I really like them. As a Copic collector - er, user, I do think the Blendabilities are really easier to use right out of the package and get a good blend.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Whisper White.

While the Blendies were out on my desk I also colored some pearls with Old Olive for the card bottom.

The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up's! Sweet Taffy Designer Series pack. Did you know you can get a free pack of DSP when you buy three? But hurry, the deal ends at the end of this month, which is coming much too fast.

So are you looking for the details about the big event on August 25? Well, you will have to wait a few more hours - that post will go live this afternoon. Pop back in after lunch!

Rainbow Thanks

A rainbow of thank yous brighten this colorful card.

The nice big sentiment comes from the Stampin' Up! Let Your Hair Down hostess set. Want this set for your own? Call me and let's schedule a workshop for you and your friends!

Back to the card. So it's amazing how you look at a close up photo of your project and see all of the little flaws. <<SIGH>>. I will have to try again and practice with my Stamp-a-Jig. What a wonderful tool that is!

I stamped the sentiments from bottom to top in real red, tangerine tango, daffodil delight, old olive, and pacific point Classic Stampin' ink pads onto whisper white cardstock. An old olive organdy strip ribbon was
tied around the panel before it was adhered to the pacific point card base.

Remember to come back tomorrow for the details about how you can get in on the fun and excitement of the Holiday Catalog Kick-off on August 25. Participation will be limited, so make sure you don't miss out!

See you tomorrow!

Warm Birthday Greetings

Here's another card I managed to get made this weekend in between cleaning off shelves and rearranging, well, EVERYTHING!

Truthfully, I wasn't very happy as I was creating this card because it wasn't coming out the way I had planned, but in the end it all came together. At least I think so and would be happy to hear what you have to say.

The pretty flower and sentiments all come from Blooming with Kindness. I started by stamping the center flower with tangerine tango ink on whisper white cardstock, and then immediately stamped the upper left image without reinking the stamp. I wanted a more faded took for that flower. Then I stamped the bottom left flower with hello honey and followed with a second impression using the same ink on the lower right.

Well that didn't exactly work out to my full satisfaction, so I pulled out a couple of Stampin' Write markers in tangerine tango, hello honey and daffodil delight and began filling in some of the white spaces on the stamped images. I used the yellows on the orange stamped flowers and the tangerine tango on the honey stamped flowers. I kept my marker strokes as light and sketchy as possible.

The main stamped images looked great, but I still wasn't happy with the shadow flowers. The marker strokes were too strident. So out came the blender pen and I worked that over the two lighter images until I was satisfied. It was a save! In the end, I think the effect is pretty, but I was really worried for awhile.

Onto a card base of old olive, I adhered panels of Park Lane Designer Series Paper and tangerine tango cardstock. I did not use dimensionals this time, preferring to have a flatter, mail-friendly card.

Inside, I stamped a sentiment from Remembering Your Birthday in old olive ink onto whisper white cardstock. There is plenty of room for a personal message too.

Have you put August 25 on your calendar yet? You will want to! Details coming on Thursday. Make sure you check back!
